Woman wondering if breast lift or breast reduction would be a better idea

Breast lift surgery addresses:

  • Breast ptosis (sagging)
  • Nipple displacement
  • Loose skin

With breast lift surgery, the breast mound is lifted and firmed, excess and unnecessary skin is removed, and the nipple is positioned in its most desirable location. It is ideal for women who have lost perkiness or firmness in the breasts due to aging, genetics, pregnancy, and nursing.

Breast lift surgery may slightly reduce the size of the chest. It is not, however, intended to eliminate excessive breast tissue.

Breast reduction surgery addresses:

  • Overly large and heavy breasts
  • Pendulous breasts
  • Excessive breast tissue

Breast reduction surgery removes tissue and fat from the chest to produce a lighter and more aesthetically complementary appearance in the upper body. Breast reduction surgery can reduce back strain, eliminate painful indentations from bra straps and underwire, improve range of motion, and ease neck and should pain. It can also improve clothing options and may even assist in weight loss goals.

Breast lift surgery is largely cosmetic and is often accompanied by augmentation to improve volume, symmetry, and projection. Breast reduction surgery is often medically necessary and, while the end results will greatly improve contours, the procedure is uniquely designed for medical improvement.

Breast lift surgery will not be covered by insurance. Breast reduction may be. Both can be financed through options available at our Kansas City office.

How to Choose the Best Procedure

One of the surest ways to determine which type of breast surgery will produce the look you desire is through a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Levi Young. During this meeting, Dr. Young will take time to listen to your concerns before fully evaluating your bust and surrounding areas to determine the best course forward.

Lift may be added to reduction and implants may be added to lift, but both procedures can be performed as standalones as well. Dr. Young will guide you towards the options that will best meet your needs.
