Younger woman with slight crow's feet

Crow’s feet are the wrinkles that extend horizontally from the outside edge of your eye. These wrinkles are common with age and may be static, which means they are visible all of the time, or dynamic, meaning they occur with facial movements such as smiling or squinting.

Dermal fillers can be used to treat static crow’s feet. Fillers add volume to depressed areas of the face, eliminating fine lines, deep wrinkles, and hollowness throughout the treatment areas.

Dynamic wrinkles respond well to BOTOX® Cosmetic. BOTOX interrupts the signals between muscles and nerves, making the skin appear smoother and more youthful.

In addition to BOTOX and facial fillers, non-surgical options such as chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, and IPL Photofacial may help diminish crow’s feet. During your initial consultation, Dr. Young will help you find the best solution for your facial wrinkles.

Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) cannot reduce the appearance of crow’s feet. However, it can significantly improve the appearance of the eyes.

With blepharoplasty, droopy upper eyelids are lifted to reveal more of the iris. Upper eyelid surgery also includes removing wrinkles from the eyelids and lifting sagging eyebrows to create a more attentive and alert appearance.

Lower blepharoplasty removes wrinkles from the lower eyelids. This technique also eliminates dark circles and puffy skin from beneath the eyes and creates a more rested and attractive appearance.

Blepharoplasty does not remove crow’s feet. Therefore, when crow’s feet are present in addition to sagging eyelids or dark and puffy skin, a combination of surgical and non-surgical options may be best. During your initial consultation at our Leawood office, we will carefully evaluate your facile profile and help you choose the safest and most effective ways to reach your goals.
