Body contouring procedures are designed to eliminate bulky skin and lumpy fat from the frame. Various techniques focus on different things, but the ultimate goal of these procedures is to restore a toned, trimmed, and more attractive shape to the treatment areas, bringing them into more ideal proportions with surrounding features.

All body contouring procedures require a short recovery period during which exercise will need to be avoided. Taking several walks throughout the day, however, is often encouraged. Once you have been cleared for more advanced exercises, you can begin to create a routine to help maintain your results.

You Don’t Have to be a Triathlete

Once fat and skin have been removed, they cannot come back. But new accumulations of fat and, along with it, stretched and bulky skin can occur, making it important that you engage in consistent exercise after body contouring. Consistent does not need to be intense, however.

It is recommended that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity every week. A combination of the two is good as well. This can include walking or jogging, riding a bicycle, swimming, playing a sport, and anything else that gets your heart pumping for extended periods of time.

In addition to two to three hours of aerobic exercise weekly, it is important to weight or resistance train as well. This helps to guard against muscle weakness while also improving the tone of the body. It can also help to divert calories to build muscle, which can further improve results.

There is no need to become a power athlete in order to maintain body contouring results. All you need is a commitment to stay active. We can discuss this with you in greater detail during your visit. Please give us a call at 913-341-2188 to schedule a consultation today.
