Mommy makeover surgery focuses on those parts of the body that may not “bounce back” after having children. This may include the breasts, the back and abdomen, the buttocks, thighs and hips, and even the neck and face. The amount of time it takes to recover from a mommy makeover will be influenced by which and how many of these areas will require treatment.

Common Mommy Makeover Procedures

Some of the procedures that are commonly combined for mommy makeover surgery are:

  • Breast Surgery. Augmentation and lift are both common during the mommy makeover procedure. These can restore volume, improve symmetry, and enhance the position of breasts impacted by weight fluctuations and volume changes
  • Tummy Tuck Surgery. Abdominoplasty removes excess skin, stubborn fat, and unsightly stretch marks from the midsection. It can also be used to address the medical condition diastasis recti, which may help prevent hiatal herniation and chronic back pain
  • Liposuction. Stubborn fat deposits can be removed from any area of the body with the advanced liposuction techniques offered by our board-certified plastic surgeon
  • Lower Body Lift. Lift procedures eliminate unnecessary skin and remove obtrusive fat deposits

Some women also opt to have labiaplasty during the mommy makeover procedure. This service, along with facial plastic surgery, may be recommended by Dr. Young during your planning phase. While collaborative in all respects, you will have the final say in which procedures you are interested in combining for your postpartum transformation.

Mommy Makeover Recovery

While each mommy makeover is different, many women require about two weeks of rest following the procedure. Work and nonstrenuous activities can typically resume around week two, but it may take six to eight weeks before you can resume all normal activities.

Your progress will be monitored during your follow-up visits, where individualized recommendations can also be made.
