Am I a Good Blepharoplasty Candidate?

The best candidates for eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) are in generally good health, prepared for a surgical procedure, and able to take about a week off from work and other daily activities to recover. Blepharoplasty candidates should be non-smokers and willing to follow both pre and post-operative instructions and restrictions, including refraining from certain medications and supplements.

Having realistic expectations is also important for potential eyelid surgery recipients. Blepharoplasty can produce some remarkable results, but may not be able to do everything you want. Working with an honest, experienced, and board-certified plastic surgeon is a great way to learn if the procedure is right for you.

What Does Eyelid Surgery Correct?

Blepharoplasty can be used to:

  • Reduce puffiness and dark circles from underneath the eyes
  • Lift sagging upper and lower eyelids
  • Eliminate wrinkles on the eyelids

Eyelid surgery addresses the primary issues that can make a person’s eyes look tired, inattentive, and generally aged, restoring a more vibrant and youthful appearance and helping to create a more alert and attractive gaze.

If you are unhappy with the way age, genetics, and environmental factors have impacted the appearance of your eyes, blepharoplasty might be the exact procedure you have been looking for. Crow’s Feet

Eyelid surgery does not reduce crow’s feet – the horizontal wrinkles that originate at the outside corner of the eyes. These dynamic wrinkles may, however, be reduced or eliminated through various non-surgical options such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, laser skin resurfacing, or IPL Photofacial. Safe and effective, these options can produce a softer and smoother appearance on their own or be used to enhance the results of eyelid surgery. We can discuss these and other options that may help you reach your goals during your initial consultation.
