  • Ankles, calves, and thighs
  • Hips, buttocks, and waist
  • Abdomen, flanks, and low back
  • Arms, chest, and upper back
  • Neck and face

In short, any area of the body in which fat deposits accumulate can be treated with liposuction. In some cases, multiple areas can even be treated at once. This is dependent on your goals, your anatomy, and other individual factors.

Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

The best candidates for liposuction are in generally good health, physically and emotionally prepared for a surgical procedure and requisite recovery period, and realistic in their expectations. Liposuction can remove stubborn fat deposits and produce desirable contours, but not all transformations are profound. During your time in our care, we will discuss the benefits and limitations of liposuction to help you determine if the procedure will meet your needs.

Liposuction is not a weight-loss tool. Only 10-11 pounds of fat can safely be removed during a single session and most plastic surgeons cap removal at six to eight pounds. If you are looking to lose weight, diet and exercise remain the most reliable options.

Maintaining Liposuction Results

Liposuction is permanent in that fat, once removed, does not “grow back.” New fat, however, can accumulate if you do not take steps to maintain your results. Fortunately, this is not very difficult.

Eat healthy foods. Avoid added sugars and foods that are heavily processed. Choose fresh fruits and vegetables for snacks. Limit alcohol intake.

Exercise regularly. Aim for 30-45 minutes of daily exercise. The CDC recommends 2.5 – 5 hours of moderate-intensity activities or 1.25 – 2.5 hours of vigorous-intensity exercise weekly for optimal health. If you struggle with this, consider working with a trainer who can assist you in finding a routine that works for you.
