Labiaplasty is a vaginal rejuvenation procedure that is used to address labial hypertrophy (loose and sagging labial skin). Addressing issues common with age or following vaginal delivery of one or more babies, labiaplasty creates a firm and ideally contoured look for the vaginal area.

Labiaplasty reduces excess tissue from the vaginal lips. This can help improve the lower body's appearance when wearing tighter clothing such as tights, leggings, and yoga pants. The procedure can also help improve comfort, eliminate rubbing and irritation, enhance sexual pleasure, and make hygiene easier to maintain.

If you are struggling with discomfort due to excess labial tissue or if labial hypertrophy is interfering with your clothing options, you may be the ideal candidate for labiaplasty. However, a desire for greater comfort is not the only reason to consider the procedure.

Good labiaplasty candidates need to be emotionally and physically healthy, prepared for a surgical procedure and recovery period, and willing to follow pre and postoperative directions to help reduce the risk of complications. Before your procedure, you may need to cease taking certain medications, including some prescription medications. Ideal candidates must be willing to make any needed adjustments to improve outcomes. The best way to find out if you are a good candidate is through a private consultation at our Leawood office.

Recovery & Results

Recovery from labiaplasty can take several weeks. Many women feel comfortable returning to work after two weeks, but both strenuous and sexual activity will need to be avoided for six to eight weeks. During your follow-up visits, Dr. Levi Young can help you determine when it is safe to resume all normal activities.

Results from labiaplasty are immediately noticeable. However, some swelling and bruising during the first few weeks of recovery will obscure these results. As you continue to recover and these things naturally subside, your final results will become more apparent. Within two months, your results should be completely realized.
